Frequently Asked Questions

How do I submit a song to a live session?

Find an active session on the Discover page and open it. If submissions are open, you'll see a “Submit Song” button inside the session. Select a track from your Jukebox library — or upload one on the spot — fill in any required details, and confirm.

Your song enters the session queue. The host controls playback order. If the session uses paid skips, listeners can use credits to promote your track up the queue. You'll receive real-time rating feedback as your song plays.

How do queue skips and paid submissions work?

Hosts can enable two optional fee mechanisms: a submission fee (a flat credit amount to enter the queue) and a skip fee (credits to jump ahead of other tracks). Both are optional — each host decides their own pricing.

Skip credits are purchased from your account settings. 1 skip credit corresponds to one queue position advancement. Credits are consumed when a skip action is confirmed and are non-refundable once used. Unused credits stay on your account indefinitely.

How do artists and hosts get paid?

Hosts receive a share of session revenue (submission fees, skip fees, and tips paid during their sessions) via Stripe Connect. Payouts are issued weekly to your connected bank account.

Artists can earn through Bartender services — peer-to-peer offerings like mixing, mastering, beats, and consulting. Payments are held in escrow and released on delivery. Artists receive payouts via Stripe Connect after the platform fee.

To receive payouts, connect a Stripe account from Settings → Payouts.

What is the refund policy?

Refund eligibility depends on the purchase type:

  • Early Access: Full refund within 24 hours if no playback has occurred.
  • Bartender services: Auto-refund if provider misses the 30-day delivery window.
  • Skip purchases: Non-refundable except for platform errors or fraud.
  • Subscriptions: Pro-rated refund within the first 7 days of a billing cycle.

Full details are in our Refund Policy. To request a refund, email support@tunetavern.app.

Are anonymous ratings different from authenticated ratings?

Logged-in and anonymous listeners can both rate tracks during a live session. However, ratings carry different weights in our algorithm:

  • Authenticated ratings count at full weight and contribute to an artist's permanent track record.
  • Anonymous ratings count at reduced weight and are excluded from leaderboard calculations.
  • Each listener (by account or device fingerprint) can rate a given track once per session.

This prevents manipulation while still letting guests participate in sessions.

How do Song Wars and bracket tournaments work?

Song Wars is a bracket-style tournament where artists submit one song each and listeners vote head-to-head between matched pairs. Hosts create tournaments with 2, 4, 8, or 16 slots. Once all slots fill, the host starts the tournament and the first round of matchups goes live.

Each matchup has a voting window set by the host (typically 1–60 minutes). The song with the most votes advances. The bracket progresses automatically until a champion is decided. Private tournaments use an invite code to restrict who can enter.

Find open tournaments on the Song Wars page.

What is Early Access and what does it include?

Early Access is a limited package for listeners, artists, and hosts who want to join before the platform opens broadly. It includes immediate access to all current features, a permanent Early Access badge on your profile, and a set of session credits.

Early Access holders also get priority onboarding support and input into feature prioritisation through a dedicated feedback channel. Pricing and availability are shown on the Pricing page.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm with your password. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Before deleting: cancel any active subscription (Settings → Subscription), withdraw any pending payouts (Settings → Payouts), and close any open Bartender orders. Data retention after deletion follows our Privacy Policy: most personal data is deleted within 30 days, but some records (billing, DMCA logs) are retained as required by law.

How do I report a problem with a user or content?

Every song, profile, and session has a report button (flag icon). Tap it, select the reason, and add any relevant detail. Reports go directly to our moderation queue.

For urgent matters — threats, illegal content, or account access issues — email support@tunetavern.app directly. We aim to respond to urgent reports within 1 business day.

Our full rules are in the Community Standards.

How do I become a host?

Any registered user can create a session and host a listening event. No application required. From your dashboard, click “Create Session,” configure your queue settings (fee tiers, submission rules, voting options), and go live.

To monetise sessions, connect a Stripe account from Settings → Payouts. Pro subscribers get access to advanced hosting features including recurring shows, advanced analytics, and priority listing on the Discover page.
